The man, who had previously been arrested and charged with a slew of charges including domestic violence, was found dead in his home on Sept. 13, 2015, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New Jersey.

The victim, Jennifer Hickey, was 28 years old and a licensed psychologist.

The couple had been together for just under two years.

Her husband, Daniel Hickey Jr., told the prosecutor at the time that he had been drinking heavily and that he would often use a sex toy while having sex with Jennifer, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors say that when he discovered Jennifer had strangled her husband, the man took his gun and shot himself in the head.

He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Authorities did not immediately return requests for comment from The Associated Press.
